SIA Tries Again to Undermine Our Rights
Once again, SkyWest, through SIA, is trying to subvert our rights and divert attention from its blatantly illegal activity. AFA is in the process of holding SkyWest accountable for its company-funded SIA organization and the illegal firing of two Flight Attendants after it warned all of us about serious discrepancies with the SIA voting system.
SIA Files Against AFA and a Fellow Flight Attendant
Anytime a lawsuit is filed, the defendants, in this case SIA/SkyWest, can countersue and add additional claims to the suit. We learned today that SIA is seeking to add AFA and a SkyWest Flight Attendant—someone they claim to represent—as defendants with additional claims in the lawsuit.
AFA brought this case against SIA as an illegal company union in order to enforce your legal rights to an independent representative who will fight for you and not just take what management wants to give. Let’s be clear: the allegations that AFA somehow stole SIA information are completely false. AFA looks forward to defending our union and SkyWest Flight Attendants in court.
Funded by Management. Desperate to Survive.
SIA is grasping at straws with these broad, overreaching claims as part of litigation that is clearly funded by SkyWest management. Why? Because if AFA is successful in this lawsuit, SkyWest management will be prohibited from funding SIA—and that will likely be the end of SIA.
SIA Faces Legal Trouble of Its Own
Let’s not forget: SIA is already facing two separate lawsuits from the U.S. Department of Labor over its failure to follow transparency and election laws. So it’s no surprise that they’re doing everything they can to avoid accountability, including launching baseless attacks against AFA and even their own “member.”
This Is a Distraction — And It Won’t Work
This is all just an attempt to distract from what really matters: our campaign is growing stronger every day. Management and SIA are throwing everything they can at us because they’re afraid—afraid of a real union, run by and for Flight Attendants, that they can’t control.
